The website set up will give you a choice to choose a temporary domain, register a new domain or use an existing domain. You can purchase an unlimited number of domains in your SiteGround hosting account.
When you register a new Domain name, you need to validate it in order to show that you are the owner of the new Domain name. It is done via email. You will receive an email from the corresponding Domain registrar asking you to verify the Domain name registration. In the email, you see a verification link, click on it and it will directly you to the page where you can review the Domain contact information.
The verification should be done within 15 days from the receipt of the email. If you fail to verify the information within this period, your domain will get suspended. Keep in mind that Domain name registration is an additional $ a year on top of your hosting plan.
If you had an existing Domain name, transfer it to SiteGround but you should first meet the criteria in transferring a Domain name. If it meets all the criteria, order the Domain Transfer service from your Client Area > Services > Domains > Transfer and the system will check if your Domain name meets all the criteria. Once the Domain name transfer is completed, the details is automatically apply to your Domain name.
Since, we have no new domain and existing domain yet, we use temporary domain first but it is not recommended to use for a long duration of time because it has no SEO value. It is only provided to you temporarily and it is convenient to use to help you get started without losing excessive time on thinking a name for it. Then, clicks continue.
