SiteGround Hosting Plan

It is actually a bit expensive compared to other competitors when it comes to high-end web hosting plans but I believe it is really worth it. They does not offer Domain name for free. This tutorial is designed to give you a survey of how to set up WordPress in SiteGround and use the tools we’ve created in the greatest possible way.

To start using SiteGround, choose a plan that best for your WordPress site. There are three plans that SiteGround has to offer, StartUp plan, GrowBig plan and GoGeek plan. StartUp is the inexpensive Siteground shared hosting plan, GrowBig is the most liked plan for good cause because it offers the best worth for your money while GoGeek plan are what we had endorse for users doing ecommerce.

If you’re looking to host one website, I recommended StartUp plan but if you’re hosting multiple websites, GrowBig or GoGeek plans are the best.

SiteGround caching

All SiteGround hosting plans include all three options of caching which are NGINX Direct Delivery, Dynamic Cache and Memcached except for the StartUp plan which comes with the NGINX Direct Delivery only. Manage your cache settings via your site’s Site Tools > Speed > caching.

After you choose a plan, we are now going to SiteGround website.

Configuring SiteGround Website

Choose a Domain name

Setting a website in SiteGround starts with selecting a Domain name. It is the website name and the address where Internet users can access the website. It reflects your products or services so that your customers can easily find your business through a search engine.

Your customers will anticipate that your Domain name is close to your business name. For the first sites, the system will automatically suggest to start a site with the Domain name. When choosing a Domain name, make sure that you use the right Domain name extensions, make it short, make sure that it is easy to type and say, avoid hyphens and numbers.

For numerous sites, .com is the best option because it is the easiest to remember. It is the first top-level Domain names and most trusted Domain extensions.

The website set up will give you a choice to choose a temporary domain, register a new domain or use an existing domain. You can purchase an unlimited number of domains in your SiteGround hosting account.

When you register a new Domain name, you need to validate it in order to show that you are the owner of the new Domain name. It is done via email. You will receive an email from the corresponding Domain registrar asking you to verify the Domain name registration. In the email, you see a verification link, click on it and it will directly you to the page where you can review the Domain contact information.

The verification should be done within 15 days from the receipt of the email. If you fail to verify the information within this period, your domain will get suspended. Keep in mind that Domain name registration is an additional $ a year on top of your hosting plan.

If you had an existing Domain name, transfer it to SiteGround but you should first meet the criteria in transferring a Domain name. If it meets all the criteria, order the Domain Transfer service from your Client Area > Services > Domains > Transfer and the system will check if your Domain name meets all the criteria. Once the Domain name transfer is completed, the details is automatically apply to your Domain name.

Since, we have no new domain and existing domain yet, we use temporary domain first but it is not recommended to use for a long duration of time because it has no SEO value. It is only provided to you temporarily and it is convenient to use to help you get started without losing excessive time on thinking a name for it. Then, clicks continue.

If your Domain name is registered by SiteGround, you can edit all details directly from your Client Area > Services > Domains > manage next to the preferred Domain. Now, you can start use you’re hosting by creating your first site. It is a first collection of web pages and related content that identified by a Domain name.
